Last time I was there they were begging you kill as many rabbits as you wanted. They are a nonprotected animal much like our Coyotes with no set season on them.
The South Island was infested with the dang things and looked like a plague had gone through the place.
New Zealand doesn't have any predators so there is nothing much to kill them. No snakes either!!!!

If my memory serves me well I seem to remember seeing an outdoor show that said turkeys were considered a nuisance bird there and the daily limit was 3 birds. If my memory doesn't serve me well....well it wouldn't be the first time.

Hi guys,

You're right about rabbits. They are a bit of a problem at the moment.

New Zealand has no natural predators of mammals big or small but weasels, stoats and ferrets were introduced and now hunt rabbits.

But you forgot about this great game animal...
