I've never hunted out of state before. Me and a buddy are going to try it next year. I have no idea which to try (KS, NE, OH, IA, etc). We will be hunting public land with rifle, mz, or shotgun. Anyone have recommendations, tips, prices or anything else helpful?

Start buying preference points if you plan on hunting Iowa, Kansas you may or may not get drawn the first try. Only hunted these 2 states on your list, I'm pretty sure Ohio is over the counter, not sure about Nebraska, Don't overlook Kentucky, Indiana and Missouri all of which are over the counter states.

Need to research tags. This will be my 2nd year for putting in for Iowa. Kansas can be tough to get tags now to from what I understand. Kentucky and Missouri would be decent options.
