And on top of that, it makes all that choose to hunt fair chase look bad in the eyes of those indifferent to hunting. (we are already the devil to the anti-hunters).
We was a eye sore to the anti- hunters way before these guys was ever in the picture.

So just to clarify because I haven't watched their shows and don't plan to, they go to the Godforsaken place of Nashville and surrounding areas in these subdivisions with a million dollar house and .2 acres and set up in people's yards and hunt?
The best spots are larger country acre 'estates' with 2 or 3 acres, $5,000,000 houses, and a backyard that backs up to Percy Warner Park, Radnor lake, or any decent sized bedding cover of 5 to 40 acres controlled by the city, county, or state with no hunting. The very best spots have fruit trees or gardens in the backyard (the landowners get tired of the deer eating their home grown veggies). Buffer zones along creeks are also travel highways. Secure permission by telling the landowners how terrible overpopulation of deer herds is for their health, how they starve from lack of food, and how important population control is. Then blast all the areas you secure permission on with cell cameras to locate a buck over 160in and kill him. Pray he dies on the property you have permission to hunt.

I had a buddy doing this way back in the early 90's... He killed over 20 P&Y bucks in a few years, best was 197" and IIRC 5 over 170". Back then, noone was doing this, so deer were reaching maturity. But there is a LOT more pressure there now, and it's hard for those 140in 3.5 y/os to get a pass from most, so bucks over 170" are not as common as they used to be.

I agree with fairchaser's sentiment. It gives me no heartburn that the deer was killed. But it's also not what I would call an accomplishment.

It would be like me taking a fly rod to any marina in Key West and then bragging about how many tarpon I caught under the fillet table.
Can I really do that?

Has it been confirmed this deer was killed in the city? I read the last night where the other main guy from Seek1 was hunting in the mountains of Utah. I've also see them hunt outside of the city.

I've hunted "urban deer" around sub divisions and they were a lot of things but "pets" was not one of'em. Especially if you add in hunting pressure from others.. I'd argue they were as tough to kill as any other deer. Big mule headed does were the worst. Sure, if you live there, they'll let you walk to your car or play in the yard, but they're not stupid either. Sitting in a yard or such may be more successful but I'll tell you right now that sit in a block of woods and they are just as spooky as farm deer.
I don't give a dam about how others hunt but I'm just saying some of y'all have never done it but seem to know all about it. Which seems to be the norm for this site.
I will add, you can tell when hunters make it to the big time because realtree swoops in and sponsors them.

It's not only social media to blame. I've seen a cultural shift over the last couple decades. Common courtesy and mutual respect are gone. You can't even disagree without becoming enemy #1. Forget about respecting someone else's opinion or them respecting yours. Civility is no more.
And that's why I left TNdeer for a couple of years. Disagree with trophyists, and they are out to get you in any manner they can.

I've come to the sad reality that social media isn't going to disappear anytime soon and have given up on complaining about this stuff. I went to their YouTube channel just to see how many followers they have; 697,000. That's sad. As long as people keep "crushing that like and subscribe button" things like this will continue.

I personally think these suburban deer do need to be hunted to control their populations and know there are several members on tndeer that hunt these places. But, they live in these neighborhoods and these are the places that they have to hunt. They don't seek out certain deer and come in from out-of-state to hunt them. They also don't blast pics and videos all over the internet about it. The residents of these developments consider these deer their pets. It's wrong of them to think that way, but that's what they consider them.

A lot of these residents don't have any contact with hunters and are pretty neutral about the whole thought of hunting. When they find out the reason "Old Henry" quit visiting their bird feeders was because he was shot and videos of it are on YouTube, their feelings towards hunters instantly become negative. These neutral people are far more important to the future of hunting than a bunch of yahoos shooting big deer for YouTube. I hope those of you supporting Seek One remember this the next time they start limiting access to places like JPP.
This a great post Buzzard Breath. I too feel suburban deer populations need to be held in check through methods such as bow-hunting. I fully support anyone who does it. Just don't splash your picture all over social media afterwards and act like some kind of "hunting hero."

We have a "Neighborhood Website," where locals share information, and about two weeks ago a post came up that caused a firestorm. It was a suburban "Karen" complaining some guy stopped by her house and politely asked to bow hunt. The locals went Ape Sh$t. Apparently, this guy had been politely asking every homeowner in the neighborhood the same thing. The Karens of the neighborhood were horrified. Thankfully, a few - including myself - defended the guy. Not only is suburban hunting good for the deer population (and homeowners through reduced deer/car collisions and ornamental plant damage), but the guy had been very polite.

Now I'm beginning to worry I might have been defending this turd from Seek One.

That is an impressive buck for just about anywhere in the country! I have watched several of there videos. The one with the guys mowing and him sitting in a ground blind in the driveway was just not entertaining.
I would much rather watch Catman smoke a doe or kill a 100-120" public land buck! And the THP guys are true hunters! They work harder than anyone to stalk up on a good buck.
I'll tell you what irritates me. It is farmers bush hogging and running machinery when I am trying to hunt. Not to mention, trucks running down the highway and people 4 wheeling. The worst is kids screaming while outside playing, people mowing yards, and the guy that fires off his AR or pistol while I'm hunting.

I wish I had a place to hunt without interruptions.

Hogwash. Can't let other people chase you away. I for one sincerely appreciate your perspective on things, even when I see it differently at times. Conversation is the premise of this site, hence "the campfire". It would be boring if everybody agreed on everything.

We as HUNTERS should very opinionated over their tactics, these guys are right up there with glorified poachers in my book.

How is he a "glorified poacher" when doing it legally and on someone's private property…..? This guy works hard at it and spends hours doing what he does. And I don't know him from Adam.
