The strange thing is, the 'dillos have far outpaced the fire ants. I had always heard they were following the fire ants north, but we have 'dillos far farther north than fire ants are.
I pray that the fire ant does not come to you. They are a real pain.

My lab has killed three or four this year , but last week we came across one too big for him to get his mouth over . They make a funny noise when they think they are fixin to die . He made it to his den .

That's an armadillo. Possums tails are flexible and hardly ever straighten out that way.
One of these years we'll start having cold winters again, and those things will be eliminated for awhile.
Right?

As a teenager I used to tag along with a group that ran dogs for pigs in the orange groves in FL. When ever we saw one of these things we'd run it down and kick it like a soccer ball and it would roll up in a ball allowing you to catch it. Never did kill them but we always got a good laugh out of watching whoever's turn it was to run through the trees in the dark after one of them.

It was years later that we found out they carried leprosy.
