7:45 am ... opening day of muzzleloader turned out to be a cool , calm november morning. First deer i see is this bruiser.. comes in from behind me over my right shoulder at about 60 yards. He gives me a shot.. BOOOOM.. the deer hops forward about 10 yards and stands there twitching his tail.. tail down, never flags, the deer simply walks forward.. away from me threw the woods.. never shot a deer that acted this way.. i thought for sure i had missed him... I'm absolutely calling myself every version of ignorant and unprepared i can think of.. telling my hunting buddies that i ruined a shot at a good buck for an hour before climbing down just to make sure... to my suprise i find blood.. and alot of it! Found him at the very bottom of the ridge.. took alot(almost 8 hours) to get him out but we got him!
