Thankfully I have zero desire to own a suppressor.

Edit: That not really honest, so let me rephrase that… Thankfully I have zero desire to pay the government and the suppressor retailers the ridiculous prices they are charging for something simply because the government regulates it. 🤣

If legislation ever passes to remove suppressors from any government regulation (highly unlikely) the price will drop to where it should be and I will get in the game then. 🙃
I just can't afford to get in that game period. :D

I did a trust on both of mine but I'm the only one on it. Just what both companies recommended I do. I'm still not sure I understand what the benefit to a trust is if I'm the only one on it?
The primary advantage of the trust is you can add other people as members of the trust so they can legally possess the suppressor without them having to go through the entire background check (but be darn sure they are legal to possess it!!!). For example, when your kids turn 21, you can add them to the trust. IF they want to use the suppressor, they can without you being physically present.

The other great advantage is having someone to pass the suppressor to after your death without having to go through a ?form 5? transfer. If you have more than 1 other added to the trust, you can spell out in the will who will be the primary user and primary person responsible for securing the suppressor.

Agree completely...

except I'm at the point now where I've lost about a third of my hearing in the left. Constant tinnitis in that ear. And now its at the point where if I shoot any gun, it PHYSICALLY hurts my left ear... literally PAINFUL to hear anything over 120db or so. Can't even attend a church service that has a performance with all the speakers turned up like a rock concert without plugging my left ear.

I bought one for hear protection as well, it's not an option anymore. Ear plugs or a can is the only choice I have. One weekend hunting with a rifle with a muzzle brake damaged my hearing in my left ear. It got my paperwork back in two days e-filing on form 4, the one before took 10 months. Filed paperwork yesterday for another can, lets see how long this one takes.

What is your budget?

Do you want max noise suppression, or small size?

Do you want quick release or direct thread? Muzzle devices are $100 each.

Is this an individual, or trust? Trusts cost some to set up.

Do you have a dealer with a rifle range so you can use it while you wait?

You'll probably buy another can, so why not get setup somewhere like Capital Armory?

When someone offers advice (on anything) find out if it is personal experience.

Like everything in life, there is no perfect suppressor, only tradeoffs. Make them intelligently.
Also a big one is the warranty, if you need it, Rugged has amazing customer service and warranty.

Just bought my first one on Monday. Silencer Co Sparrow. Bought it at a LGS that had a silencer shop kiosk. Bought it mainly for my tx22 but I'll also get a threader barrel for my 10/22. And who knows what else in the future.

The Sparrow was cheaper (relatively speaking) and seems to be the simplest to clean. I also couldn't find one in stock online anywhere so I got extra motivated when I saw they had one in stock. I don't think this is the best performing by a long shot, but I just got it for fun. I had seen where wait times were drastically reduced so I thought I'd dip my toes with this one.

Set up a Silencer Shop profile over the weekend and added my photo. Did the prints on their kiosk Monday when I bought it. Seemed simple enough, guy working there walked me through it. I didn't realize it at the time, but something must have auto populated when I created my account and it was showing my street address as my county. Silencer Shop emailed me this morning and I logged on and fixed that. Think I am waiting on a Docusign document to sign now and then it'll all get submitted.

I just did an individual not a trust, mainly due to that being the fastest approval. If I ever get deep into this world I may go set up a trust but nobody is going to be shooting this without me so I didn't think it's be an issue.
You will get a Docusign email where you review everything. After that, you'll go back to the dealer and certify the e-form, or you can do it with them virtually. It's really a streamlined process using them. Way better than the old paper form 4 days.

Signed the docusign this afternoon. I'll check in with the dealer tomorrow.

Gun store called, got approved today. One week since I signed the DocuSign & it actually got submitted. Think the whole thing started at the kiosk on Monday the 1st. Not too bad!

I've been waiting on a trust since 2/12. Actually placed the order on December 2 through Silencer Shop but some kind of system glitch caused a huge delay and took forever to resolve with the local shop and Silencer Shop, both blaming each other. My business will go back to Silencer Central just because of all the run around between Silencer Shop and the local dealer.

I'm thinking about heading down this rabbit hole and been fighting it for a year. But here we are……lol.

I want it for hunting so looking for something short and light weight. It will need to be able to shoot 30 cal and 6.5. I will also be putting it in a trust.

I've been looking at the Banish Backcountry from Silencer Central.

So, let's hear it……
Check with UTGrad. He's into all that fad right now. 😉

No reason to wait a week for a trust. Our process can have the trust paperwork to you in less than two hours. But then you need to have it signed and notarized than sent back. Once we receive the signed trust back we submit it all.

I may do a trust down the road for some other items.
Really no reason not to do a trust now. Our trusts cost $130, and take about an hour to get the legal forma back to you sor signature. Our trust form is filled out electronically and submitted to the attorney's to legalese and return it.

I'm a silencer shop dealer and thay have been troublesome. No reason to wat that long for a trust (I'm seeing a lot of that here). I'm now using the Cerebus system for all forms and submissions electronically. I can do fingerprints and photos onsite. Our trusts take about an hour to be completed and ready for signatures.
