As a matter of fact, I kilt my last buck just after daylight, and in heavy fog I might add, on Dec 1st this past season. I was in the stand at least 45 min before first light on this particular morning. 2-1/2 yr old came thru chasing his gf, or actually sneaking along behind her .

It all depends on the lay of the land. At our place in Hickman, the times I have been most successful is getting in an hour before light. Most other properties, that is not a necessity

I've had many times where the deer walk into shooting range (bow season) and hang out before shooting light. I wonder all the time how many deer people miss out on by not being in the stand early enough. I hear alot about hunting your way to the stand, but where I hunt I just don't think this is plausible. If it daylight, and you are on the ground... the deer see/hear me long before a shot is presented 95% of the time.

Ideal: 60min. before shooting time.
Reality: as the season drags on, I tend to get to the stand later and later until it is more like 30 minutes.
