But the COACH is the one that keeps playing him. Right? Right....
Just because Pruitt says JG gives the best chance of winning, doesn't mean that JG is good. It's disappointing that 3 other qb's either couldn't or wouldn't step up and take a job that was there for the taking.

He's had 2 months to do something to set himself apart from the others. And nobody with the football program has said that JG is NOT the best option
Let's give Pruitt the benefit of doubt and assume he is right and that JG really gives us the best chance to "win". Maybe he is right.
When will Pruitt wake up and smell the coffee and realize that there is nothing left to "win" this year and that he needs to prepare for the future? If we have to watch JG under center again next year then I'll find a new hobby, period.

I think missing all spring and most of fall hurt Bailey. Or at least the coaching staff wasn't comfortable enough with his development and that's probably correct. Big jump going high school to ncaa D1. Having said all that at this point it doesn't matter at all. Bailey needs to be playing the majority of these last games to prepare for next season. For instance, I'd rather Bailey play and us lose by 20 than JG play and us lose by 10.
I guess coaches don't or can't think in those terms, but I think it's more important now with all the time missed.

Also on Wednesday two weeks ago Pruitt said they had there best practice between qb's and wr's on timing. Then he said JG was in concussion protocol and did not practice that day. This isn't rocket science exactly lol

and yes displaced vol. true on losing 20 vs 10. It's time to move forward at all cost

I understand what your saying about "nothing left to win this year" and I agree, but right now "a" win means a lot to Pruitt, it Matt be the difference between being employed or not. Especially if it comes against a Florida or A&M.

A loss to Vanderbilt would mean a lot.

Tennessee is a top 10 job, whether you like it or not. We have just sucked hiring the lead guy which is not always predictable, bama was just so so till Saban came along, actually Vols beat them 6 or so years in a row before saban, Tennessee actually has beaten bama more than any team so , yeah we just need a coach

TN is not a top 10 job. Maybe in the top 25. TN doesn't end up with Pruitt and Jones if it's a top top 10? I can't remember how many coaches turned down the job when it fell into Pruitt's lap.

Another reason not to fire him this season, besides the obvious ones I've already pointed out, is there will be virtually no pool of candidates to hire from. Not a lot of coaches getting let go this season.

It all boils down in the "way" they were hiring, our AD was acting like an idiot

Name a big name coach that UT has went out and hired in the last several decades? Fulmer took over when Major got sick. Dooley was a train wreck hire, Lane Kiffin has never done anything, Jones can break down film at Bama, and Pruitt got the job by default. They aren't lining up at the door to coach at UT.

The two best coaches UT has had in many years, were both Homer's (played at UT).. UT has proven to this point that they can't go out and hire a proven coach.

Who in college football can? Aren't a good percentage of college coaches homers at some point in their career? You mention the last several decades and that's an odd timeline as it's only been since Fulmer we've been cycling through subpar coaches. (Jury is still out for me on CJP, we'll see how it goes).
Seriously, how many truly elite college coaches are out there? 5? Maybe 10?

Nobody saved Nebraska yet. Harbaugh ain't gonna be the savior in Ann Arbor. Chip Kelly looked awful good at Oregon now what the hell is he doing? Coach O is riding last years coattails.
Landing an elite college coach is harder than in the NFL I think.

Either CJP will figure it out or we'll have to catch somebody on their way up the ladder, or somebody looking to drop back down from NFL to college.

Florida didn't exactly knock it out of the park with Zook, Muschamp and Mcelwain. And could have possibly ended up with Randy Shannon if Urban hadn't inherited Alex Smith at Utah.
