Don't wanna break the bank but wanting two good easy to use vests that are comfortable. Tired of the old ones that come with stands

I had a gorilla harness. I'm not sure of the name but it has been updated. Very comfortable and long tether. Too bad it got stole. Now I have a hss ultra lite. I hate it.

Black diamond rock climbing harness there is no better imo
Light weight
Not hot like a vest
Connects in the front so if you fall you will be facing the tree
And can be used like a lines man to set stands

I have a climbing harness now as well. I bought mine from TwentyFeetUp who is no longer in business. But its very similar to the Black Diamond one.

Summit Seat of the Pants harnesses. Worn 'em for years, but I was noticing that Cabela's carries new models with some new features like Binocular holders and cartridge loops.

THe tether does not get in the way at all. You wont even know its there. I have a black diamond rock climbing harness and will never go back to the vest style harness. If you haven't tried one on just to see if you like it, you are missing out.

This may be the route I end up taking. I've done a lot of rock climbing in the past and they are pretty comfortable as long as you get your ummmmm junk out of the way :)

I have heard bad things about the vests with suspension trauma.

I don't think it's a coincidence that just about everyone who says they are using a rock climbing harness also says they will never go back to using a standard treestand harness. I'm also a user of the Black Diamond BOD climbing harness and I will never go back to a regular treestand harness.

This: BLACK DIAMOND Bod Climbing Harness

plus this: Hunter Safety System Rope-Style Tree Strap

is the winning combination.

Ditto. I use a "20 Feet Up" climbing harness (out of business now), which was just an overpriced fancy name for a Black Diamond Vario Speed Harness that can be seen in the first link below. I recommend a climbing harness as well ($40-$60) because they are low impact, take up less room, are lightweight and are less cumbersome in my opinion. Good luck with your choice.

Here are a few for you to consider.

I use the black diamond momentum harness (linked in Andy S. post). I see many people make this statement about the tether in front getting in the way of shooting. What you have to remember is that your tether will only be about waist high if you are using a rock climbing harness, as opposed to above your head with a vest harness. So, not in your way at all.

Ok, I admit that I've never worn a harness before but all this talk of falling is scaring me. Just want to make sure I get the right stuff before I order. Is this what I need?

Yes, you will be good to go with that setup. Scroll down and read the post made by "houser52" and see his setup, as it is very similar to most that utilize a harness and HSS rope.

I totally agree with Vermin. I use a Black Diamond Alpine Bod harness in which I attach my 36" nylon runner to my tree rope via a locking carabiner. I actually made my rope-style tree rope because I could save a few bucks doing so.
My rope-style tree strap is made of a piece of 6ft 11mm or 12mm static rope (black). My prussic knot is a piece of 6mm static rope. 8mm was a little to thick to work with. I believe I spent around 60 bucks and little of my time. Here are some good forums about these items:

Ok guys just one question on that setup. With it being a waist belt what keeps u from "doubling over" in the event of a fall? I'm new to this style just wanting info

It isn't a vest, but I love my Muddy. Simple to use... binocular clips... stays out of my way.. and never gets tangled.
