But seriously, is there any reason to put a lift kit and oversize tires on a truck if you don't really need extra ground clearance? Will it shorten the life of your transmission and suspension over stock? (I would assume so).

I've thought about lifting my 02 tahoe 4in just for looks, but it runs so good I don't want to mess anything up. I used 4x4 3 or 4 times this past trip, mostly because I didn't want to skin my ground. When you own your own land, you aren't as aggressive about driving where you shouldn't in a truck, and use an atv or sxs to save damage to the ground when it's wet
