Very well said Mega!Easy pass. Good for him! Sometimes its fun to have a 'mascot' deer live out their entire lives on your farm and die of natural causes, having passed him several times during his life along the way.. Deer hunting isn't always about deer killing.
This is on a big rough patch off cattle ground. Family land. Hard hunting. Amazing he has lived so long in there and surprisingly, i didnt know he existed till this yr. But this is a big rough tractBe nice to have enough ground to pass on deer like that.
If he had both sides, he wouldnt be passed-thats for sure.Be nice to have enough ground to pass on deer like that.
You don't have to have a lot of ground to pass deer... my new farm is 79 acres.... bought it 3 years ago. Haven't killed a deer off it until this year, and weve taken two 4.5yos on it so far this year. It does suck when your 120in 3.5yo 10pt and 120in 3.5yo 9pt you've raised gets shot by the neighbors or just before their prime, but it still doesn't change the fact I'm not picking my tomatoes when they are green... im waiting till they are ripe!Be nice to have enough ground to pass on deer like that.
I pass plenty of deer, but mature bucks regardless of antler status are very rare, more challenging, and in my mind are a trophy. I would rather kill a mature buck without one side than find him dead of natural causes or old age, but that's just me.You don't have to have a lot of ground to pass deer... my new farm is 79 acres.... bought it 3 years ago. Age is the most important thing to me. Some on these forums have multiple farms and large tracts. If I had more to manage where I thought I would have a chance at older bucks making it through, I might have a different perspective, that was my point.
You don't like fried green tomatoes ??? J/K ...You don't have to have a lot of ground to pass deer... my new farm is 79 acres.... bought it 3 years ago.
