Remington centerfire rifles can have a very poorly done crown from the factory. I bought a Stainless model 7 in 7/08, and 1st thing was to clean up the crown with a bronze mandrel purchased at Brownell with 400 grit compound. I necked down 308 brass and loaded 41.5 gr N203-B same as RL15 with 120 Nosler Ballistic Tips. I was very happy. I have since ordered a trigger for it. Get a magnifier and look that crown over in good light.
