You can spend as much as you want on either brand.My heart skipped a beat when I looked up Zeiss prices

That might have been my fault because it was my first time on Zeiss website. Maybe I missed it, but I was looking for a scope that would be practical for a .22 Rimfire like this one.
For me vx3 leupolds are perfect combination of lightweight, eye relief, trimness nas brightness. I like zeiss, but they seemed bulky and heavy- which is a problem for my guns which are all very lightweight. (Dont to throw off the balance)
Cabelas has the Zeiss on sale for 649. And mondays through Christmas they are offering 15% off to club member as well.
The very best scope I own is a Zeiss Varipoint. I bought it 14 years ago and prices have gone up so much I would not be willing to pay for a comparable scope today.
For a while, the zeiss conquest were available for $400, a very good buy for that price.
The last several years I have bought several swarvoski's. Unlike Zeiss, they use the same glass in their lower priced scopes, just not as many bells and whistles. They have very good value in a 1" tube. I would give them a look before deciding only Zeiss or Leupold.
