And for another $50 you get exposed elevation turret and BDC reticle with the Viper HSLR.
This is the BDC setup on my 40cal Smoleless Muzzleloader with a 100yard zero.
I'm debating on getting this for the Grendel I'm putting together

My first experience with Vortex was with a crossfire model. Only kept that one a few weeks and let it go. Replaced it with a standard Diamondback 4-12x40. Not a bad piece of glass but the eye relief sucked. Swapped it out for a Diamondback HP 4-12x42 and have been really happy with that particular model. Pretty decent glass overall. I have a Burris signature HD 2-10x40 on my Knight muzzleloader and it's really nice. I like it enough that I purchased a second one for a different rifle but due to the mounts and the scope tube length, I wasn't able to use it. I really like the scope and the ballistic E3 reticle, so it was a disappointment that it didn't work out. If you go with Vortex, pay attention to the listed eye relief. Some are better than others.

I have a Vortex Diamondback tactical 6x24x50 on my RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor and it's serving me well, out to 1000 so far.
I bought two first focal plane versions of that exact same scope from MidwayUSA in March 2019. They were great scopes and I really liked them, but I returned both of them. The problem I had was that the reticles were entirely too fine for my old fart eyesight. If I was shooting long distance on a range all day long, they would have been fine. However, if the same rifle was to also be used for woods hunting, most folks (not just us old goats) would have difficulty seeing the reticle, especially during that critical first and last hour of shooting light, which in most areas also happens to be the peak movement times for most game animals. Just my personal opinion, but I think it is a great scope for target ranges but essentially useless in most deer hunting situations.

Totally agree with your assessment, and the ones I have are just for that, target shooting. ;)

I'm just curious as to why you "dislike" Midway?

I've not had anything but good experiences with them, and they commonly have what I'm looking for when other large retailers like Cabela's & Bass Pro do not.
I don't know why he doesn't like them, but I quit using them a long time ago because they were rippin' our azz on shipping. They have reduced that, I would guess because of Amazon Prime. I've used them again lately. But also check MidSouth and Natchez when ordering online.

Several reasons. First and foremost, their customer service is absolutely terrible. Have had a couple really bad experiences with very rude and non helpful customer service reps. Second, midway engages in very dishonest practices. I bought a new product and paid for a new product, they sent me a refurbished product. Then to top it off, they didn't refund to my card for a week after they had the package delivered back to them. Funny thing was they charged my card as soon as the order was processed, well before they shipped. They lie about shipping. Have had several orders that they created a label, then no activity for a week. They try to blame ups or FedEx, but the carriers both said they had not picked up the packages. Their prices typically are higher than everyone else that has the same product, and their shipping and haz mat policy with 1 per limits sucks.

No, I don't like midway at all, but I reluctantly have ordered a few thing's from them when the deals were too good to pass up. More often than not when they have a sale on something I need, I will get Cabela's to price match them. Unfortunately sometimes they don't have the exact same item in stock.

Week before last I placed an order with Cabela's which included "free" express shipping. The next day, I placed an order with Midway, which included "free" 2-day shipping.

The Cabela's order arrived in 3 different packages over 3 different days.
The Midway order arrived in a single box 2 business days after order placed, and a day before the 3rd package from Cabela's.

Knock on wood, but I've had better luck with timely deliveries from Midway than Cabela's over the past few years.
