Rem 700 ADL in .270 with Nikon Pro Staff 3x9x50; Not an elaborate unit at all but it's reliable and accurate. I'm not a fan of the synthetic look of these rifles so I had it hydro dipped camo about 10 years ago. The camo prostaff optic matched it nicely, so that's what I bought ha!

I switch between that and a BAR .308 with a Leupold VX-III that I bought for my wife to shoot years ago. I think she's had it in the woods half a dozen times, heck at this point I've killed twice as many deer with it as she has.

I bought a X-Bolt Medallion in 30-06 and said I was going to use it as my "go-to", but I've only had it out of the box once since then. If I could find a older/nice Rem 700 BDL or CDL in .308 or 30-06 (reasonable) I'd probably put the X-Bolt on the road.

Grew up hunting with 30-06 in the Himalayas (Dad's right hand Model 70) Stayed with the same caliber.
My go to is my trusty 30-06 LH Browning Stainless stalker for 30+ years now. My .270 Remington BDL LH is a close 2nd if I ever get it back from son #1!

"What's the ONE gun that you have 100% confidence in and grab when it's rifle season."

My verified/100% confidence ONE gun for THIS YEAR rifle season below:
(The date for the day usually clarifies during the morning coffee before going out the door except the Bisley sometimes steals the day if a deer steps inside 30 feet.)
1. Savage in 338 Federal
1. TC Icon heavy 308
1. TC Encore with 243 barrel
1. TC Encore with 50 Cal ML
1. Henry 45Colt
1. Pedersoli Sharps 54 Paper Cartridges
1. Ruger Bisley Blackhawk 45Colt
1. Remington 7400 30-06
1. Killer Instinct BC415
1. Barnett C6
1. Farmington RAM Takedown recurve

Don't have time to go into my 2nd choice(s) but hope to have my 20 gauge fowler done & verified but time is tight...

I knew when I didn't BOLD the "ONE" in my OP that I'd trigger the A.D.D. in all of us 😂

The Henry would be a cool picture, laying on a big buck.

Only little doe pictures since I usually carry the Henry when trying to nudge shooters to my sons/grandkids.
I 💘 deer.
BTW you did not bold the "ONE" because you knew it wouldn't work, always some A ole gonna be honest about ONE Gun.

Remington 710 30-06. I've killed an absolute pile of deer with this rifle and see no reason to change. The scope is a 3x10x44 Federal Intensity (same a Weaver 40/44. I have hauled this rifle and scope combo all over the deer woods the last 22+ deer seasons. It has never let me down.

Remington 700 Mountain Rifle in 7mm/08, but my .280 Remington Mountain Rifle is feeling ignored, may have to swap them up. ML season I will tote my Traditions pursuit in 50cal, or the CVA MagBolt 150 in 50cal. On a lighter note, I might be willing to trade or sell a Remington 1100 3" magnum, made in the 80's and has less than a box of shells through it, out of the box condition. PM if interested. Good luck to all this season.

I'm planning on heading to Wal MArt night before season starts, picking up a Savage Axis is .223 and having the counter lady mount and bore sight A Tasco on it for me. Should be dead on for shots out to 4-500 with them ol' Core Lokts. ;)
As facetious as you're being, some poor sap will do just that the Friday night before gun opener, and wonder why he missed or can't find his wounded deer

100%. The gun counter at Wal-Mart or Academy the night before opener is almost as comical as pulling up a lawn chair to a boat dock and watching people launch :)
