Grew up hunting with 30-06 in the Himalayas (Dad's right hand Model 70) Stayed with the same caliber.
My go to is my trusty 30-06 LH Browning Stainless stalker for 30+ years now. My .270 Remington BDL LH is a close 2nd if I ever get it back from son #1!
Very interesting. Himalayas. Do you have a story to tell?

Raggedy old Jarrett in 280 AI will be the go to. I have a 28 Nosler on an Origin action that may see some time too.

Savage Axis .270 Win Camo and Black, for how cheap they are it is a straight shooting gun. I sighted it in at 100 yards and shot at 200 after and was dead on 9 out of 10 shots I was hitting a basketball size metal plate at 200 yards. Have yet to take a deer with it tho.

No offense intended but 9/10 into a basketball sized plate at 200?? That's neither straight shooting, nor dead on.

Either something is BADLY wrong, or you need to be keeping your shots a lot closer than 2 bills dude.

Ruger 77 in 30-06 if conditions or terrain are rough. Winchester Model 70 in .270 if it's easy going. Want to try my Marlin .44 Mag and Rossi .454 Casull. I haven't had them in the woods yet.

1st deer SW 686 .357
next 2 Rem 870 12 guage sabot slug
Then I will join a crop damage permit in KY with Rugers 6.5 creedmore and just for fun a .223 from colt.
When it comes time to get serious about bucks My old friend from Remington the 700 in .270 with Quigley-Ford optics
Then if my KY buck tag is unfilled I will go to my Matthews 7 for a late season KY bow buck

All of this if I am able to avoid hip surgery in which case all bets are off

I used to shoot a 7mm Rem Mag exclusively. Since there is no difference between regular and magnum dead, I have downsized. Since I picked up my commercial Mauser 3000, 3x9 Redfield. it is my go to. 165 gr Hornady SST over 48.5 gr of IMR 4064 PD.
