Talked to my seed guy today who happens to be a pretty big seed blend deal here in the south. They do a lot for Co-op, Biologic & other buck on bag companies.
Talked about availability most & a little on price. They've got rye & use their own wheat as they grow thousands of acres each year. He said buckwheat was scarce and crazy high as most comes from South Dakota that they had terrible drought last year. Also said Landino clovers were through the roof too, other clovers not so bad.
He's doing me a mix of Triticale-Fixation Balansa Clover-Jackpot Forage Turnips- Daikan Radish for my annual plots. Had all the stuff to do it with & told him to figure the percentages and make enough for 20 acres. He did say the Jackpot turnips were actually cheaper that 7 Top right now. Will find out cost when ready.
He did say that he was going to a meeting Thurs & Friday that'll be attended by 30-40 big time seed growers from across country. Main topic is availability, not price. Everyone wanting to know what they can get their hands on & will be priced accordingly.
