I've seen turkey while bow hunting but never really hunted them. My question is, can they be called in or is it just dumb luck to have one pass by the stand? And if they can be called, what type of calls would be used?
Old school turkey hunting in the Fall usually consisted of busting up a flock, many times with the use of a dog, and then sit in the area and Kee Kee call to them and try to get the flock to come back together close to where they were when they were busted up.
I supposed you might get a hen's attention if you called every once in a while.
I figure it will be more of a target of opportunity mostly though.
Jake yelps seem to arouse their curiosity. Use to hunt them with a bow, always did good at getting shots ( not always connecting though) by roosting the the birds and using a hen decoy with Kee Kee calls after daylight.
