For the sake of discussion, and since so many people seem to be still salty about losing a buck tag, how would you feel about going back to a statewide 3 buck limit with drastic changes to the seasons.
Something simple like, Oct 1-31- Muzzleloader, Nov 1-30- archery, December 1-31-rifle. Sprinkle a few juvenile weekends in there and call it a day.

Why? I think there as many people happy with the 2 buck limit as there are not and we'll never see the results of any move made by TWRA if we keep bouncing the limits around.

I'd fine with a one buck limit but there's still the weekly post that says something along the lines of "saw a small buck that I would of shot if we had a 3 buck limit". Then there's the guys that will roll into the woods for the first time Saturday morning 30 minutes after daylight only to shoot a spike and say "I wish it was bigger".
More than anything I expected a barage of guys that would rage over the sheer thought of taking a rifle out of their hands in November.
Really and truly the only change I really wish would happen would be to require a bowhunter/gun hunter safety course like alot of the Midwest states are going to.

Season seems pretty good right now...

I'd like to see some reduction in doe limits, perhaps go to 1 a day in unit L, and definetly would like to allow kids to use weapon of choice like Mississippi does for kids. My 14 year old girl is scared of the muzzleloader, and my 9 y/o girl definetly isn't ready for it, so they miss out on the very best hunting on my farms in mid November :(

I was never salty about it, but I have noticed the furor died down several months ago and really hasn't been a contentious discussion topic this season. I'm good with the limits for my area and I would not like to see the seasons that you suggested.

I expect it to pop back up with gun season opening. Same as the new definition of a buck becoming a hot topic to complain about.

nope, all i would change is push ML and rifle both back a week or ax the juvy hunt. How much can a couple archery hunters affect the juvy pressure.

Maybe even go as far as saying collapse ML and rifle into a single season; with current ML season there is no real disadvantage to shooting one.

Are you suggestions scheduling muzzleloader season before archery?
Yep. Kansas does it and Iowa has an early Muzzleloader somewhere around the middle of October.

Here's a novelty. Every year prior to season opening you have to sign up for the weapon you'll use the entire season. You're not allowed any other for the year. You must cycle through archery, muzzleloader, and rifle before you can repeat any weapon. If you don't hunt with one of those weapons you sit out the season. Chew on that one, lol.

I liked the 3 buck limit but the 2 buck limit is the law and no use complaining about it now. The time is in the summer when they bring things like this up. As far as the seasons go they are perfect the way they are.

I just want a shorter gun season. Two months straight of muzzleloader/gun is hell on the deer and makes late season hunting very difficult. I think that really separates us from the serious big buck states that have a higher average age of bucks killed

That would for sure reduce pressure on deer as it would reduce hunter numbers by about a 1/3 since most of us are not willing to fool with stick hunting (Archery). I can't argue that reducing pressure on the deer is bad but I sure wouldn't like my year out every third year. Of course this is so unlikely to happen due to difficulty in enforcement that it's not worth getting upset about either way. :D

Archery the rest of the year
Kind of like Kentucky

No. The seasons are fine. If someone prefers bowhunting, that can use their bow during any season. If someone likes the way they do it in KY, they can hunt in KY.

Leave it alone. If you want to kill 2 small spikes go for it, if you want to save your tags and try for bigger bucks go for it. If you want to bow hunt all year do it. Just leave it alone and enjoy hunting.
