Interesting, makes me wonder why peak breeding in northwest Montana is last 10 days of November?
Finding unique peak breeding dates is always interesting. Sometimes deciphering the reasons for those unique dates is easy, such as the unique dates for South Florida (July and August), South Texas (mid-December), and the coastal regions of GA and the Carolinas (late September). But other times, like the weird dates of AL and MS, is a mystery.

Why is peak breeding the earliest for northcentral and central Middle TN and then gets later the farther south and west you go? I have no idea. I can't imagine what factors makes a peak breeding a few weeks earlier in central/northern Middle TN such an advantage versus a few weeks later just 50 miles south and west. I didn't include Eastern TN breeding dates because they appear to be a hodge-podge of localized peak dates for different environments, considering the Plateau and Eastern Mountains.

My place is in Perry and we were super hard hit with ehd summer and fall of 2019. Wonder if that had anything to do with the survivors shedding in late Dec. and early Jan. Here.
Perry and Hickman counties really took the brunt of that EHD outbreak. Harvest numbers were down about 30% for those two counties. Humphreys County harvest numbers were down a big percentage too, but I think a lot of that was due to the tropical storm wind damage in late October. Few deer were killed from those areas after the trees came down.

Reports from friends running cell cameras in Fayette county. Some bucks starting to drop, while others holding tight.

I had about an hour to make a quick walk around the farm. I was able to check 1 cam and it had several recent buck pics with antlers and at least 1 that had shed. I also found my first shed of the year

about 100 yards from the camera.

Checked cams today & these two young guys were in the creek fighting for several minutes on 6 Feb.
Few years ago for the heck of it , I put out some doe in heat at a camera in mid February. Wish I still had the pictures. 4 bucks, ( all under 2 1/2) two fights going on at the same time.

Had 3 bucks chewing on corn behind the house when I came home for lunch in Knox County. All three still had their antlers.
