Marlin 45-70 vs Browning BLR 308

Contemplating on trading my stainless BLR .308 for a Marlin 45-70 or 444. What are y'all's opinions….?

My opinion, nope aint worth it! I would much rather have the 308 for hunting and just shooting in general, ammunition cheaper and much more available and better ballistics for how i hunt

My opinion is to keep the blr and buy the marlin.

After buying an older BLR 308 for my son, no way I would advise swapping it for a 45-70 or 444. Those BLR's are a dream to shoot!

Two totally different tools and calibers. I would def not trade. 308 much more capable across the board IMO. Maybe try to find a deal on here for a 444 or 45/70.

I'll bite. I'd take the 444 or 45/70 over the BLR. I'm fine with being different on this one, but I have a special place in my heart for an 1895 in a big bore caliber

All depends on what ranges you are shooting at. If my shots were limited to 150 yards or less the 45/70 all day long. Longer than 150, the .308 would shine.

See, I never have taken a shot at a deer further than 150. That's my original thinking.

I'm thinking that stainless model is rarer and would fetch better value in cash than on a trade.
I say this as someone who really wants a .444 Marlin.

I've never liked the BLR's, and would rather have a Savage 99 than the Browning if wanting a .308. While I agree they are two different tools, if forced to choose, I'd pick a Marlin Big Bore.
