Marlin 336 35 rem

I have been exploring picking one of these rifle up to match my 30/30. I have found a couple different options. One being a ,SC waffle top jm stamped pre safety. the 2nd ive considered is a standard 336 presafety jm stamped. Is there a major difference between them besides the waffle top

Waffle top shouldn't be drilled and tapped for a scope from the factory. If it is D&T it isn't original if that matters to you. Other than that there would be no difference.

From what I've read waffle tops were before they changed the barrels to micro groove rifling.

I just sold one last year it was a 1951 Waffle Top with Ballard Rifling.
