Looking for a Marlin 336 or Winchester 94

Good buddy of mine looking for either for his grandson for Christmas WITHOUT having to auction off said grandson to pay for said rifle. You guys are the best at location a value. I tried to talk him into a bolt 7mm-08 but no go…..if it's a Winchester, he prefers to be able to mount a scope without a forward or side saddle mount. Thanks to all in advance……we are located in northeast Tn. He would probably drive a reasonable distance.
The lil feller got him a bear with a muzzleloader…..

Friend of mine runs a store in Gordonsville had a new 336 classic 30-30 the other day. If that's in your driving range I'll check and see if he still has it and price if he does

That may be a little steep for him. Aren't new ones in the 12-1300$ range?
