Question for you folks that probably do more buying and selling than I do. I have an older vx3 4.5x14x40 Leupold that a friend is wanting to buy , what's a fair asking price for this scope ? Standard reticle , minor wear marks . Thanks in advance

I personally would not give more than $300 for it, as I have seen that model in the newer 3i model for sale from strangers for $350-$375 in last month on various forums. If he were a good friend, $250-275 would be my price to him. Remind him it has a lifetime warranty from Leupold. GLWS.
$300 would be fair for both parties involved
I'd say $300 is a cheap price for a "vx3".

Imo the vx3 is a better optic than the 3i.
Is it gloss? It's priceless if its gloss. 
Before you sale call Leupold and have them check the serial number to make sure it isn't counterfeit. It can be a helpful point to a potential buyer.
