I used to use a 7MM mag so I have shot a heavier recoil weapon than a 270 win. So here is my question concerning factory loads. I have used a 270 130 gr load for years. No problem as I kill deer with it and very little to no tracking involved. This year, and for no particular reason, I am thinking about switching to a 270 130 gr load to a 150 gr load. Is there any noticeable difference in the 130 vs 150 gr load? Which seemed to have a greater recoil? I will be using the same model 700 I have used since 1996.

A little more, but not enough to cause problems. When I went from a 150 to 180 grn factory bullet in my 308, the increased recoil was noticeable, but didn't cause any problems.
Those stinking 180s in a lightweight 308 flat out recoil. Last year a buddy and myself were at the range and I was slinging 200gr 300win mag. He was all over the place with his shots so he asked me to see if it was him or the gun. I pulled the trigger on that dang 308 and got knocked in the face. I told him I didn't know if it was the gun or him but I wasn't doing it again and suggested he either go to 150s, get a brake on it , or get a different gun

Have shot both 130's and 150's from my 270 and there is minimal noticeable difference.

I would have stuck with the 150s, but for some reason, in my gun, the 180s are considerably more accurate than the 150s. With the 150s, I'm shooting a 3/4" to 1" group at 75yards, but with the 180s, it's cloverleafing the holes.Those stinking 180s in a lightweight 308 flat out recoil. No difference in the field. I have shot 130's for years, but during the ammo depression all I could find is 150s, so switched for a bit, when you are concentrating on the kill, the recoil goes unnoticed.

I don't notice any difference in recoil with my 270, I also still shoot a mule kicking 835 so my opinion doesn't matter!

shoot a 45-70 without a recoil pad . I used to hunt with that monster .
