Not even the Indians hunt with bows anymore. Lease or no lease, anyone hunting within 125yrds of someone's house is way too f@#kin close and is a fool.

Sounds like the AR guy may have realized he was in the wrong and chilled a little but when you've got nothing but a bow in your hands I think the hunter handled it correctly. I'd get the landowner out to clarify lines and call the police as well if nothing could be worked out.

So, does anyone here have any solid tips on de-escalating such a situation where you are approached by someone who is irrational and not listening, and is aiming a loaded gun directly at you.
Stay as calm as possible. You escalate it, it could get very bad very quick. Thankfully never dealt with it so all a guess. Imo the guy handled it as well as he could have.

That sounded to me like the hunter was set-up near a property line where he thought it was part of his leased ground since the property owner told him to move 20 ft away and he would be ok with it.. He used OnX to determine this (which is off by about 30 yds on one of my property lines). Also sounds like it was immediately behind the property owners house, This is the part where I would have a problem with - you know you're very close to a property line which is apparently not marked, you're very close to someone else's house and trusting OnX to be that exact. Not saying he should be shot over it, but I'd be pissed off too.

Edited for clarification
Good to see someone else has some common sense.
