Hunting in a tree stand over the weekend, AR style rifle

Need help on gun management , cant get my gun up without deer seeing the movements

Is there something i can use to mount it to the metal rail of the tree stand

Its a 2 man stand with a metal pullover cross bar

Dont want to rest gun on lap for fear of dropping

I usually hunt ground blinds so all is new for me

Thx

I usually rest the barrel on the front rail and tuck the butt between my torso and arm, kinda under your armpit. This way I can have it semi ready and still put my hands in my pockets if need be. I can pretty much do anything I need to with my hands in this position.

I lay mine across the top rail next to me. If I'm in practice it'll come up fast enough no matter where it is
Same here lays caddycorner across the rail most of the time. If I have deer out, I usually have the gun in position. As far as getting busted, burlap or canvas could help if you don't have cover. The store bought two person stand I have up has enough cover(cedar and small trees) in front of it that I f don't have any issues.

One thing I found is that the rail on the Walmart sold stand is too low for me, I am 6'2", and it is not adjustable in any way. I use a monopod rest leaned up against the rail to get me more height for a steady rest.

I have always had the barrel resting on rail and butt either on my side resting on the seat or on my lap. I haven't ever felt like it was going to fall out of the tree stand. I also wrap all my ladder stands with the camo fabric wrap to hide movement.

Some good stuff here. We keep all of our 2 man stands wrapped in camo burlap. I usually keep it in the corner, and if I hear a deer it's up ready to shoot. Like someone mentioned, is this multiple stands or one particular stand?

As far as fear of dropping a rifle goes this is what I do. I leave the haul rope that I use to Hoist the rifle up attached to the sling. 6 ft from that on the rope I have a loop tied which I hook in the clasp that I attached to my stand shooting rail. I don't know what they're actually called but they are used on dog leashes a spring clip affair. That way if I drop my rifle it can only go down 6 ft. I've never dropped a rifle from a tree stand but having that safety rope on it gives me some feeling of security. In a climbing stand I normally rest the rifle across the front bar.

Multiple hooks screwed into tree; left side, right side and above my fall harness strap. That way when I am standing up, depending on which way I am facing I can grab the gun slowly from either side of tree. When sitting I rest the gun on my shooting rail corner. You have to be cognizant of this; don't knock it off the rail. Most of the time I hold the rifle with the butt of the rifle resting on my thigh and barrel up in the air.
I stand up from first light as long as I can; same with the last hour of light. Most of the time holding the rifle. If I must rest it, I hang it from the hook. I can reach it with very little movement.

Also, if hunting with my AR10, I cross strap the AR as I am climbing rather than unloading it. Unloading and loading an AR to rope it up is way too noisy for me. Never felt real comfortable slowly releasing the charging handle and relying on the forward assist to get the round into battery. How are you getting your AR into the stand?
