What Caw SAID below, it will germinate on concrete. we are planting 50+ fields now , got about 13 done today, will finish the rest this week hopefully.

We gave up on winter peas a few years ago. Our deer would not let them get above a inch tall before eating them down to dirt...

Austrian Winter Peas - in heavy clay or clay/silt soils - are definitely a candy plant for deer. They wolf them down fast. Kinda' like soybeans - if you don't have enough acres, the deer will wipe them out fast.
