Started to dismantle, trim to length & re-assemble some old reloaded ammo, so as to not waste valuable components. 44 Magnum ammo turned it into 44 Special ammo. (Sold my 44 Mag some time ago, but still had some old reloaded ammo left & a new 44 Special itching to be shot.)

After 18 rounds I decided that it was too much work, so I just purchased a box of Cowboy Action loads & will reload that with recovered 44 Mag components.

1. SS tumbled 1200 9's. Dried and placed in ammo boxes. 3,000 at least waiting in line.
2. Full length small base sized 200 .308's headed for a semi auto bull pup 18 inch barrel
a. tried to chamber a few in a 308 bolt with a tight SAAMI barrel and ran into over-long exceptions.
b. Went back and measured all 200 pieces and found about 40% needed trimming (2.020+ length must be 2.015)
On 10-7-2022 so far
1. Started SS tumbling 600 9's.
2. FL SB sized another 50 .308 pieces and measured---10% overlong. have 750 or so still waiting in line.
3. Got some 7mm08 load work to start . Nephew Christmas present.
a. Will use the tried and true DA RL15 load for a box of 50 Blue tips.
b. Have a recipe for 140 Accubonds or NBT. Will load up 15 NBT and 35 140 A-bonds.
4. Have some 270 work to start.
a. Christmas present for my Brother in Hendersonville.
b. Going to be about 200 130's once I get a recipe that is solid

I realized all the brass I worked back in the summer was all for nothing. Somewhere along the way my headspace is off. I can't measure it and tell you where lol. And the primer pockets leak. Lesson learned! New brass arrived the other day.

My wife and youngest two have been to see it, probably 4 or 5 years ago. Our church usually sends a group to watch.

Decided to upgrade my Loadmaster press so I can a few more calibers in bulk
1. 223-did this long ago but forgot 1 part
2. 308
3. 45 ACP

This press chunks thru 9's just about faster than we go through them. To my amazement it still seems to be measuring powder at a high degree of accuracy.

Going elk hunting in Colorado. Loaded 50 cartridges for a 300 win mag. Barnes 180 grain ttsx's, 70 grains h4831sc, 3.34" oal. Sighted in 3" high at 100 yards. 2,935 fps muzzle velocity as measured on my chronograph. Shot today at longer distances. Still 3" high at 200 yards, didn't shoot at 300 yards( no available spot for that), then shot 4 moa high at 400 (16") and was just about right on for the drop. Ballistic calculator shows different trajectory than what I saw, specifically more drop…by a fair margin. Does this seem odd? I mean, you can't defy physics right?

Just the basics-your primers look okay? No bolt lift troubles? You have a slower powder to test?

You are getting near the exact FPS I get with my A-Bolt in 300 WinMag with max load of IMR7828 215M and Partitions.

I am never sure about Ballistic tables until I check my own results-actuals not calculated.

Best of luck with the Elk. What part of Colorado you headed towards?
