I've seen cameras, stands and even a keep out sign on trees around a stand. Anyone who leaves ANYTHING on public land is at least a bit of a jerk.

All I hunt is public and the ladder stand issue is one thing that burns me up. On one piece of public that I hunt, I can take you to six different ladder stands that I know of that have been hauled into the woods and left for multiple seasons now. Folks spend the time and effort to haul them in but are too lazy to put in the effort to haul them out. I view it no differently than someone just dumping their trash on the side of the road.

It's not laziness. It's done intentionally to claim 'their' spot just like orange tape. They're typically used together. It also wouldn't surprise me if it's done by PETA activists in an attempt to dissuade hunting. Ladder stands, and orange tape, should be outlawed due to the way they've been used to abuse public land.
