For some reason, I decided to change from round balls to sabots..........I got a great deal on a bucket load of 50 cal. Hornady sabots.....250 gr.
Yesterday, I shot a few of them for the first time.........I was under the impression that no lubrication was needed, but the sabots were terribly hard to get started in the barrel. After I BEAT them down about a inch or two, then they went in just fine......but, it took getting a hammer and beating the end of the bullet starter to get them started.....
Do any of you use a lube when shooting sabots and are these bullets always that hard to load...?
Would lubing the end of the barrel do or should I lube the entire sabot....?
Thanks
