I pull a 6 row with my jd 4x4 85 hp.. for what your doing a 4 row would be fine, unless you are like me and just never have the time to spend... I prefer the pull type.. just what I have always used.. and most everyone else does also.. I did have a 2 row 3 pt hitch once..it worked fine.. just took forever to get done.. how many acres are you planting.. I think the norm is one row per acre.. 6 row.. 600 acres.. etc..

Which would you prefer and why? I see several types of planters in various classified ads. I have a 4wd 65hp Mahindra so a 6 or 8 row planter is not out of the question.

John Deere 7100 eight row planters are going for $800.00 to 1000.00 in my area, most all the local farmers have gone to 12 row and larger planters

its real easy to remove the wings on an 8 row and make into a 4 row

your tractor is not large enough for an 8 row pickup style planter
