Have you seen this new round? What is your thoughts on it?
It wasn't designed to compete with those rounds; it was designed to be a larger caliber, harder hitting subsonic round that was easy to suppress. But why???
Harder hitting than what?It wasn't designed to compete with those rounds; it was designed to be a larger caliber, harder hitting subsonic round that was easy to suppress.
300 BOHarder hitting than what?
8.6 BLK has been likened to 300 Blackout, albeit on a larger scale, i.e., "300 BLK's big brother," and is occasionally referred to as the "8.6 Creedmoor"
Same as 300 BO, they make both subsonic and supersonic roundsSubsonic is 1114.4fps they show 2200 ?
Did you get to play with a suppressed fix?My opinion/experience only...
The biggest difference maker for this cartridge is the twist rate. Just looking at the velocity and mass aren't going to impress you that much, compared to what's been done in the past for slow moving projectiles with decent mass.
The twist rate is what's crazy about this one. I don't know of anything that's spinning as fast as 8.6 BLK when it leaves the barrel.
I shot one from a very compact bolt gun a few months ago. It sounded like a 22lr leaving the barrel, but a freight train when it hit the target. It's worth keeping an eye on.
