Mixed bag on rover float….

Wind was cold and harsh but we definitely filled the cooler. Lots of smallies including 3 that broke off. Several decent large mouth and a cooler load of spotted bass, blue gill and some nice blach perch. Fried them up. Man they were good. Fish patties on next trip. Heres some of my sons.
All large mouth and smallmouth were released

Funny thing- we actually are disappointed when we hang a smallie because they have a cooler exemption

Love the big "Redeyes" absolutely the best fish to catch and find. I love the striped bass but nothing beats the Redeye

And they are excellent table fare but you dont here sbout many people eating them. We love em and catch massive ones in the fall. Nothing like the river in mid October

Those redeyes are right up there with bluegill for eating and the spots are really good too.

A 1-2 pound spotted bass maybe my favorite for the skillet. Easy to filet. Solid white meat and incredible fried or blackened
