I would say that you are going to get mixed dates due to the fact that the peak rut varies across the state! I'm in west Tn I would pick 1st week in dec because the main rut is over there is still some breeding going on! And the big bucks are on there feet traveling looking for any does left! I kill or get my biggest bucks on camera at this time!

Since I hunt public land, I'll also have to say the first week of ML season. Obviously though, it's not nearly as good if unusually warm.
