I was at true value yesterday to pick up some stuff and walked by and endcap with the big Havahart traps that come with a "free" smaller trap inside. 30 bucks. Couldn't pass that up, so I put one out between the pumpkins and the sweet corn - coons already destroyed the corn, but I want my pumpkins to survive. I checked the trap around midnight and already had a coon. Dispatched him and now I am gonna go buy some honey buns and try to catch the rest.

Anyone else got pumpkins growing yet? My Connecticut field and Long Island cheese pumpkins have male flowers but no fruit set yet. The Atlantic Giants finally have couple of fruit growing good, one of them is probably about 10 pounds now. Coons will occasionally tear into a young pumpkin so I am going to kill as many as I can.
