I've never been on Douglas, but have seen it during winter drawdown. Always heard it was a good fishery, esp. crappie and bass. I fish Norris a lot, and they look similar, both are old with Norris the oldest. My question how the Douglas produce like it does, and Norris never close to that kind of fishery? What am I missing?

Water clarity is one of the reasons. Douglas has more white crappie and largemouth bass vs black crappie and smallmouth and spots. Douglas has cleared up over the last 35 years and more black crappie and smallmouth are now being caught. Up stream agriculture may also play a role in the difference. Lake fertility has lots of determining factors.
