First for 2024

This morning I was thinking about not going because of the wind. Thought of a place that I hunt that was somewhat out of the wind, and went there. About 10 minutes after daylight I heard what at first was a hen talking. Listen further, the talk was a little course for a hen. Made some light calls and at fly down three jakes flew in, followed by 9 more and a long beard. Long Beard started fighting with the Jakes, and soon the jakes ganged up on him. Flapping and spurring and doing the fighting noise. After a few minutes, the long beard ran away from all the jakes. Went around the blind that I was in so had to reposition myself to shoot. 40 yards #9 TSS 20 gauge did its thing. 20 lbs , 9-inch beard 3/4 in spurs. Made me glad to go this morning!!!
