Favorite Caliber for 300 Yards and Under?

I've got a lot of those listed above and all are good but I'm gonna throw one out that fast became my favorite under 400 yards.

For me, 270 Win all the way. Normally, ammo is plentiful. Shoots hard and straight. 130 ballistic tips.

Another vote for the .270. I have mine zeroed at 200 with 130 grs. Almost no need to hold anywhere but on center from 0-250 yards and aim 2-3 high at 300

ImThere has the ticket for whitetails either 7mm-08 or 308 are great for 300 yards and under, 150 or 168 for 308 or 140 in 7mm-08. Either caliber will work for larger game (elk/moose) at 300 yards as well.

30-06 ,large variety of factory loads and many combinations of hand loads. Been around a long time for a reason

.308 if you don't already have one. One of five guns/cartridges everyone should have anyway (.308, .223, 12ga, 22lr, 9mm) plenty capable in that range, can always find factory ammo and can be downloaded a bit for lighter shooters.

Killed a many of deer with my 45-70 . Now that I'm not hunting middle Tennessee I may start hunting with the Marlin1895 again but it's hard to lay down the Ruger M77 7mm mag.

7mm-08 Used baby brothers when I hunted with him in Va.. Only 1 deer took a step, the rest fell where they stood. He had many many firearms, he took something different every time we hunted just to see, the 7mm-08 was his favorite.

I've looked for them past few years, hard to find and I never see any ammo so it probably be more of a pain than others. That trigger was perfect, as soon as you were on target, just relax...it was a tack driver.
