Most of my plants are decent size but where there were some bare spots were, I replanted seeds. When I made the planting hole there seemed to be either tunnels or dirt eroded away under the initial rows. Any ideas? Ants, voles? Never had this happen before.

it might be sugar cane beetles, I had this problem once in the past, the beetles like to eat the roots of the plants, the plant will usually grow faster than the beetles can eat

the main problem arises when the beetles get thick enough skunks and armadillos will dig up the plants to get the beetles, this basically only happens at night

the critters will dig right down the rows
