I got a 300 Blk rife this year to try out with no plans to deer hunt with it. But after seeing so many people using them for deer it has me wondering, It would be by far the smallest round i have ever deer hunter with so I probably would like to keep it inside 100yd. Ay recommendations on bullets with good penetration and good weight retention ? Thanks

I would never buy a rifle in this caliber but a upper for a AR would be great for me, double duty, might end up with 1 at some point. will need to study feedback on barrel length and brands. only will get 1 chance to do it no upgrading after I retire lol

As Pickett posted, the 150 gr Deer Season XP have done really well on hogs. I'd imagine they'd do great on deer as well.

Sound suppression is the only reason I got a 300blk it was my first purchase when I got my suppressor. I'm also getting one of my marlin 30-30 threaded so we will see how it compares

My buddy runs Barnes 110 Barnes Vor-tx out of his and says it like hitting them in the head with a creek rock. He said it will tear them up. I have Hornady 110 gr and Speer TNT's I loaded for mine but it is still sitting in the safe from 8 years ago. The Speer 125's shot better out of my rifle but haven't hunted with it. Bet it would be a good pine thicket round.
This is loaded with H110 powder.

If you reload get the Barnes 110 grain TTSX. If you buy ammo buy the Barnes 110 Vortex (same bullet as the ttsx). My kids use these bullets to deer hunt nd they are great. All pass throughs with excellent blood trail.

I handload the 110g Barnes. It's the cat's meow for the 300 BO and less than 150 yds. The one bullet I have recovered was a perfect petal.

My 1st choice would be the 125 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip
Couldn't agree more.

My kids started out with a rem 700 I had built on a 300blk. They probably took 15 deer between the 3 of them before moving up to 308. 125nbt at 2200 fps opened up perfectly at the lower velocity. All shots under 100y. Lost 1 deer, but shot placement was the issue, not bullet construction

It's always been a shame that the .30-30 has always been loaded with flat point or round nosed bullets. The Leverevolution ammo is a whole new ball game though.
