Anyone got a good light load for a 260 with 120 gr. bullets? I have an Encore I setup for my 9 yo. daughter to shoot but she is sensitive to recoil (she is rather small at ~55-60 lbs). I know the 260 doesn't have a lot of recoil anyway but just looking for proven suggestions without dropping to a 100 or 85 gr. bullet.
Thanks

in my 7/08 120 nbt 24" bbl

40 grains re15 2725 is a killer load
I have had several youths kill with it and i shot a 200 lb buck at 269 high shoulder dropped in its tracks

I am sure something similar would work in 260

One great option is to use a reduced load with H4895. Hodgdon states that it is safe to reduce powder charges for any cartridge, where H4895 is appropriate to use, to as low as 60% of the Max load. This drastically reduces recoil. I've tried this with 395 grain cast bullets in my 460 Weatherby and it makes a huge difference.

I would post the web link but can't figure out how to capture it since it doesn't all show up at one time to Copy. It's easy to do a search for "H4895 Reduced Loads" and find this on the Hodgdon/IMR website to verify that it's safe for yourself.
