Lots of folks poo-poo the Federal TSS, but I've had incredible success with them.

150/250 from a .575 undertaker and the reduced recoil 1000fps version

200/230 from a .562 sumtoy and the 1100fps version.

Now that Federal has raised their prices to the same level as the semi-custom smaller ammo manufacturers, id be tempted to go with them instead of Federals... that being said, I'll still he shooting the federals when season opens.

Agreed. I still have 5 boxes of federal left. When they are gone, I'll test others. But I can't complain about 240/180 out of a 575.

poo poo on the .410 Federal, too many pellets still in the wad for my liking. We've had better luck with 20 gauge stuff.

I'm gonna be toting tss this year as well. Im man enough to admit when I am wrong, and in this scenario I was wrong. I said a few years ago it was crazy, but then I realized that we owe it to a turkey to use the BEST that we can afford to. I'm not saying that birds can't be killed with other stuff, because I've done it myself, but personally I see what the tss hype is about.

If it wasn't tss I would be toting the ol longbeard xr. That's another shell I think is deadly in the 20ga

I'm shooting a 870, 21 inch barrel with #8.5 TSS. Started using it last year with apex ninja and a jebs 560 shot so good. Very pleased how a 20 kills a turkey I'll never use a 12 gauge for them again. This year I Put a different stock on, and got dipped and put a Burris FF3 on. I also load my own shells now. Switched from a jebs to an Indian creek 555! It's a game changer to have a lighter gun to tote around plus being able to shoot the same distance plus some with TSS

Megalomaniac, we just got 227/220 at 41 degrees temp out of a 21" barrel so they must be pretty consistent….measured 40 yards.

I still have 6 boxes of the 1100fps loads I bought on closeout a couple years ago for $25 a box, and a box and a half of the original reduced recoil loads i save for my daughter. I don't feel hamstrung by them one bit. 32 trigger pulls in the past 4 years (includes kids), 30 recovered birds. 1 clean miss at close range, 1 assumed cripple loss at 40y. Only 1 bird nearly inedible (son shot low and filled both breasts with shot).

Last year was our first with 20s. Between my grown boy and I we took 3 cleanly out to 42 yards. He also took one with a 12, but I am done forever lugging the 12s….

The 1st gun I ever bought was a 870 20Ga. It ended up sitting in the safe never being used for years. Had it drilled/tapped and added a FFii, Cerekoted, SurShot stock, and a Sumtoy choke and it is the go to now.

Got my girlfriend into turkey hunting last year. She just bought a Benelli M2 20Ga at a Ducks Unlimited banquet that has the FFii and has been enhanced by Rob Robets. Dunno what all was done but excited for her to break in her 1st gun this season.
