I had one just like it. Eight pound trigger, see through aluminum mounts, cheap scope and all! But, every time I yanked the trigger a whitetail hit the forest floor. I named mine hammerhead!

I've got almost the identical gun rem 7600 .270 pump it is my go to gun

I have an old 742 model in 280 caliber. Made in early 70's. Has the engraving of a deer on one side and a bear on the other side of the receiver. Never had a problem with it.
