I have purchased my first smoker and was wanting some ideas on what you veteran smokers use for pork. I was thinking of apple wood chips for baby backs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ditto on the hickory and apple. I also put some apple juice in a spray bottle and give them a spritz every 45-60 min. for the last half of cooking time.

Use em both! I love the flavor apple chips give. But I recently used some Pecan chunks and I loved them too.

But a Hickory / Apple combo will be nice.

Pics!

2 hours in. Went with hickory chunks. Burns hotter and easier to maintain 200-225 that way.

I use hickory and apple.
Ditto on the apple...If you can get apple wood you will be pleased...I actually cook on all hardwoods but really like Hickory and red oak...

Try this...When finished smoking ribs cover in honey and place in tin foil and leave in cooler for 30 minutes... ;)
