In a tree stand i'll be totin one of my Mdl 7's, probably the .260.
Watching over a food plot in a shooting house a Rem 700 in either .270- or 7-mm Mag.
I haven't shot one with a rifle in several years but this year I do have the marlin 30-30 set up and ready to go. It was my first deer hunting rifle my dad got me and I shot my first buck an 8 pt with it and shot my largest buck to date with it about 12 years ago. It brings good luck and figured this was the year to bring it back into action.
I will take my dads rifle opening day Winchester m70 featherweight .270 as long as the weather is nice. Then I will switch out to whatever I grab from the safe when the weather is bad. My fav is Rugar American in .308 Tack driving sob!
Don't really care. Whitetails aren't that tough. All seem to die just fine if I put any bullet over 22 caliber at any speed over around 800fps impact velocity in the chest.
Winchester Featherweight .308 this year. I've many to choose from, but I'm not shooting anything that's not readily available ammo wise. I'll save those. 308 is available.
