You're right. Friends with retired TVA officer and been law enforcement for 15 years myself. I have no clue. They originally had 61 total for the state before they transfered over to focus on "security" at their nuclear facilities.

History

Since 1933, TVA has employed public safety officers who have law enforcement responsibilities. Agency officers have provided security during times of war. They also provided emergency medical and firefighting services during the agency's construction phases and have staffed visitors' centers throughout the TVA system.

By the mid-1990s, the agency employed 500 public safety officers who were trained and certified at great expense. That number was reduced to 150, however, after 1994 when Congress passed legislation creating the U.S.TVA Police.

On September 12, 1995 125 officers from the TVA Public Safety Service were sworn in as Charter Members of the newly created TVA Police. TVA Police was organized into three districts that encompassed a seven-state area.

In May and June 2012, TVA Police disbanded its uniformed patrol division and aligned itself more along the lines of other federal law enforcement agencies. Today TVA Police still employs sworn federal police officers in the capacity of Inspectors, Investigators and Technical Security Specialists. Contract security personnel are employed to supplement TVA Police and provide security at TVA facilities and other key locations.
You say less than a handful across the state, which isn't true, you also say that they're near power plants like oak ridge, which isn't true. Oak Ridge isn't a power plant nor is it owned by TVA. TVA police more than likely aren't gonna be walking through the woods checking license, they're watching over the facilities more than anything. They also have a big presence on the rivers and lakes looking for drunks and artifact "looters". Actually they use drones with thermal imaging to make sure nobody is walking the river banks taking artifacts. The security at nuke plants used to be contracted but now they are TVA employees. There's plenty around the parts of the 7 states that TVA covers.

Yes, less than a handful of TVA Police across the state. That is what I said and that is correct if you bothered reading any of the articles. You are correct when I said Oak Ridge I was referring to Watts Bar Power Dam. I have never witnessed a TVA officer on or near a lake looking for drunks in all my years of fishing (not saying they don't but thats a personal opinion). I have provided documents and news articles that states and shows the major decline of officers (especially uniformed patrol!!) over the years and their lean towards use of security. You have provided an opinion. I dont mind arguing and admitting I am wrong, but I prefer something besides one's opinion with no factual basis hence why I provided mine. Good day Sir!

I'm not arguing, I'm just using common sense. If you think that Americas largest public utility provider has about 3 police officers running around protecting then go ahead and believe it. I don't know what else to tell you.

TVA land is pack out what you pack in. Now with being said, I have 3 ladder stands on TVA land. There are a lot of "regular hunters" on that particular piece of land. I had talks with most every one of them and we exchange info and phone numbers. They all know they can use any one of the stands I left out. I get there extra early so I get my pick of the stand I want to use. All I ask of anyone is that they don't leave trash. I'm over 60 years old and it is just to hard for me to pack in a climber or take in and out ladder stands anymore. There are also several more stands out on this piece of property that are not mine, and I have sat in a couple of them myself. If an owner came in and asked me to vacate, I would. And I would do it politely. That's just me though. It's public land and we should treat it right and each other right. I know I'm wrong for leaving the stands out, but like I said, I'm old and it's to hard to move that stuff by myself. I will probably quit hunting in a few years. When I do, I will put a sign on the stands that say they have been donated to the property and use at your own risk.

3??? No I clearly showed where it went from hundreds to thousands to eliminating the whole uniformed division? Again opinions vs facts backed up by proof. I don't what else to tell you either.

Plenty of ladder stands and tie ups over here in West TN on TVA land. We ran into some ladder stand deer hunters midday hunting squirrels with dogs in late December a couple of years ago. Total jerks about it too cursing us out. Lots of buck sign back there too. We were a couple miles from the truck and had no idea they were hunting. They had also ridden their ATVs to the stand so apparently they thought they owned the place.

Once the stands gos up they usually think they own. Just because you leave something you own out in the woods intentionally doesn't mean it's now your area or your buck and everyone else is an intruder. And nobody is hauling a ladder stand in and out everyday. Especially if the spot your hunting isn't next to the road.

I see ladder stands left on TVA land all the time. I think it sucks, but nothing much that can or will be done about it. If I get out there and a ladder stand is in a spot that I want to hunt and blocking a good tree then I'll use it.
What i cant understand is why anyone would use a ladder stand for public. Way too cumbersome and visible. Seems a climber ot locon and sticks would be a much better option.
