Haven't heard anything about the whole deal since they had video that showed the young man reached out and grabbed the car as it went by.

Anyone heard anything else about it ?

I figure someone that represented Stewart made an off the record deal to compensate the family for their loss or something.

Sad deal.

I haven't heard anything in several days. I think I did hear he is going to retire tho. If I remember correctly Rusty Wallace or Darrell Waltrip said it on the radio. I maybe wrong tho

Jerry Punch comes on 990 Sports Animal every Monday afternoon. He has been adamant all along that it was nothing more than a tragic accident.

He said Stewart has been really tore up about ever since, but felt that he would return at some point because too many people depend on him for their livelihood, etc.

Ruger, did you see the slow motion video? It clearly shows Ward reaching up to grab the wing of Stewart's car, which was in all likelihood an attempt to ruin Stewart's night. Those wings are quite fragile, yet are as important as having wheels on the car if a driver is going to be a contender.

I was in the process of posting it on the 'Tony Stewart' thread in the General Forum a couple weeks ago and when I hit 'submit,' the thread had vanished. I had read the thread from the beginning and saw no signs of members getting hostile with one another, so I figured a mod didn't want the subject on the site and didn't bother re-typing everything for a new thread that might vanish.

I saw the same video. After watching that I was for sure that the young man made a fatal mistake by grabbing on to the wing.

Only thing I have seen on Tony going to retire is some rouge websites starting viscous rumors. I'm sure that was never a plan. Or a thought. It is what it appears. A tragic accident. Which will affect both parties involved for the rest of there lives. Also will probably effect motor racing in general for now on.

Pedestrians are hit quite often without the driver being charged. They are usually in places where pedestrians aren't supposed to be, like in the road. I don't think race car drivers are expected to be walking ON the race track either. No matter what we think happened, if the guy had stayed in his car, he'd be alive.

Toni is the only driver with a blind spot in the center of his windshield, that happens to be in the shape of a young man.

I hope he didn't do it on purpose. I'll never be convinced that he didn't.

I take it you haven't seen the slow motion video where Ward obviously reaches for the wing on Tony's car in what was most certainly an attempt to ruin Stewart's chances of being competitive for the remainder of the race?

Makes me think of that old saying 'if you're going to be stupid you'd better be tough.' Few people are tough enough to take on any machinery with their bare hands and come out on top.

Stewart clearly did nothing wrong and Ward is responsible for his own tragic fate.
