taxidermist shrunk my mount

Got it back today. Not a brute by some people's standards, but I'm happy.

I admittedly thought the neck was bigger. However, that cape came from a different deer. The cape from my buck couldn't be used.

Yes... between Watertown and Lebanon.

It is possible he has a smaller neck now. Even with the original cape if the right form isn't used it can shrink by an inch.

Sounds like he didn't do the measurements before hand or ignored them one.

Shoot smaller deer like I do so that the taxidermist feels sorry for you and works all night to fit the cape over a thicker form much larger than the deer was in real life. The last one I got mounted came back with a much thicker neck than he really had.

By the way, I've never shot one as big as yours so I'd be real happy with him for sure!

Nice deer. My deer had a lot bigger neck when I shot it than it did when I got the mount back. I was kinda disappointed with that.

I was gonna mention that. I've heard of folks that have a good buck that they want to measure cutting a board and sliding it between the antlers.
