Hard to follow SSS if you call the law and tell on yourself!!
.
Don't start shooting at someone with a gun unless you're in fear of your life. Then you better shoot to stop the threat.
.
call the law tell them the situation and you want to press charges. Tell them to get there now.

My property
Speaking of.... I noticed my straps were broken on my stick ladder the other day, and when I went to replace them early the next morning I noticed someone had tied one of them back in a knot. So, someone has been in my stand as well, on MY property, properly posted and signed. One of these days I'm going to catch them, and it won't be pretty. I'll call the GW and the law, but it's their move after that.

Cut down the tree and claim I forgot about my stand and didn't see him up there?

That or arrange a police escort for him. Probably #2 but option 1 would give us both a story to tell
Man, I can just imagine the sheer terror on their face as you approach and fire up the chainsaw! :D Jump Forrest jump!

Post no trespassing on the tree the stand is in since he's gone for now and put a camera on it. Cell cam preferred so if they do find the camera it's too late and it will tell you to get over there.

I'd also tow his vehicle. With that in mind, maybe print a paper out that says any trespassers vehicles will be towed at the perp's expense and the tow company's name, address and phone number and post it to the tree as well and out at the road.

What's sad is the pos that get away with trespassing and poaching. How they can sneak into a private deer stand and kill the buck everyone has hunted for years and get it out without being caught is beyond me. Then they lie about where they killed it and get it scored and put in a magazine. You think I exaggerate! I still got the magazine.

Hate to say this but I've been the stranger in the stand. Not really his stand but close enough to it. I go out on a buddy of mines farm years ago after his dad insisted that I come hunt. They really talked it up, and told me exactly where to go. So I take off one morning, going in blind, and find the area off a big nice green field down the logging road in a stand of mature oaks. As I get about 30 ft up and settled in I see a light. I keep quiet and he walks in about 40 yards behind me. I flash my light and we ruin the hunt by talking about who gave permission for both of us to be there. DAVE. So now I know he's legal and I'm legal. We'll we decide that he turns his way and I turn mine. But at 8:00 I see a SxS traveling hard and fast my way. Some old guy stops at the bottom of my tree and let's me know in the best sailor talk I've ever heard that he'll be right back and I better be gone or he'll cut the tree down with me in it. I tried to explain but that wasn't happening. I turned to the guy and told him thanks for nearly getting me killed. He apologized and I believe he was embarrassed. The story is we were hunting on the 3 DAVES. The granddad, the dad, and the grandson. But it was grandpa Dave's farm and he's the one that I didn't have permission from. Needless to say, I now make sure who's name the property is in and their address and contact them personally for permission. Just thought I'd share the day I trespassed.

They will go to any extreme. Ive dealt with the stalking aspect from them. I had no idea it was going on until it was too late and they were firing rifles with suppressors on them at night. They got away with it too. Stalker weirdos and poaching goes hand and hand from my experience.

Towing would be a great idea. Almost as inconvenient and expensive as going to court without the possibility of them not being charged because local LE doesn't want to bother their cousin's deer hunting

Had a similar situation about 15 years ago. Calles the Police and GW numerous times they said pointed fingers at each other. I went to the stand and told him to get down. He made numerous threats of bodily harm toward me in the process of coming down. As I explained to the gentleman that he just went from a misdemeanor trespass to aggravated assault since he was in possession of a firearm. He had 2 options and one was to live to hunt another day the other was not as enjoyable.

People have zero fear of consequences anymore. The threat of a lawsuit over an arse whooping stops a lot of justice from being doled out on the spot.

Most of us know what needs to happen, and that's that the trespasser with a big mouth needs to be seen crawling back to his truck and found at the nearest ER. I'm not talking about an honest trespassing mistake, I mean the ones who dang well know better, and cuss you for having the fortitude for dealing with them.
